Work Focus until 9th December 2011
We are now progressing into the real demands of constructing quality Media coursework. The nature of the work changes from 'Teacher led content' in lessons to personal decisions made by individual students to complete their Music Magazine cover. High marks will only be gained (Level 3 & Level 4) if students can evidence excellent Time management in their planning.
Good luck & thank you
THIS WILL BE THE MAIN FOCUS OF YOUR ASSESSMENTS UNTIL THE END OF THIS TERM.
- AS students must plan their Original Film shoot of Original Images considering key elements of 'Mise en Scene' (including: Camera shot/Lightening - Costume/Props - Location) to convey appropriate meaning to your chosen Music Audience). Blog and post examples of your images and reasons for decisions made for your choice in shot composition.
- Select your best/most appropriate image for your front cover and blog and post why this image is the most appropriate. REFERENCE STYLE MODELS AND REFER TO CONVENTIONS TO ENSURE THAT YOU ARE PRODUCING AN ACCURATE AND REALISTIC ARTEFACT.
- Check this OCR website to look at examples of AS students coursework: http://ocrmediastudies.weebly.com/
- Demonstrate your growing confidence on Photoshop and create a professional Front cover for your music magazine. Support this with a blog showing evidence of Editing (Print Screen examples of Editing your work) Blog & post when Cover is 'Finished' decisions & revisions made from your previous draft.
- Finally check all tasks are completed from previous Work blog.Catch up with all work in and out of lessons - if pupils need additional time in school/after school/at weekends please see me. Blogs are your homework as they can be completed 24/7 on a variety of new media devices - Phone - laptop - tablet etc.
In short I should see a Completed Music Cover with Original images and a minimum of 3 posts on your Blog by DEC 9th.
Good luck & thank you

Drafting our Music Magazine Guidance
Year 12 - Make sure your new 2 posts are available for Assessment:
- Reflection on Pre-Liminary Task with uploaded school magazine cover & contents page
- Generic conventions of Music Magazine list (based on viewing of You Tube video of same name) See earlier post
Mr Murphy & I will assess your work together on Thursday for Assessment 4
Work for this week
- Hand Drawn draft of Front Cover of Music mag - This can be scanned onto your Blog post
- this must include clear use of CONVENTIONS plus clear reference to STYLE models
- This can be then translated into a Photoshop draft initially using a 'Downloaded' image. (This can only be used for Drat purposes and will assist the planning of your Original Image photo shoot)
- Which Sytle Model magazine has influenced yours most? Eg Kerrang - Q - Mojo - NME -Smash Hits etc. Internet research on your chosen Style Model magazine to focus on Audience profile for your Magazine (Potential Target Audiences: Age - Gender - Social group - Lifestyle - Income etc)
By next week we need to be clearly thinking about the Mise en Scene for your photo shoot:
- Location
- Props
- Costumes
- Image Composition including: choice of Shot & Mode of Address
And begin Photo shoot
Good Luck
