Question 1 - Additional Info


1 We worked on Question 1 as a group activity in January. You have to comment on the 'Conventions' on all 3 pieces of your coursework (Cover - Contents -& DPS).
2 Use the feature above to focus on any additional conventions on your Magazine Cover.
3 Remember to use the Media Language when appropriate.


Remember to check the Powerpoint presentation that you created as group work after Christmas.

Construction task = 60 marks (Distinctive/Varied pics for Cover, Contents DPS)
Research & Planning = 20 marks (Planning sheet + Time management of Blogs )
Evaluation = 20 marks (Reflection sheet)



Evaluation questions:

  1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? 
  2. How does your media product represent particular social groups? 
  3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? 
  4. Who would be the audience for your media product? 
  5. How did you attract/address your audience? 
  6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? 
  7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

5 weeks-Schedule for you

Today:
Please prepare on your Cover - Contents & DPS and Convert to PDF file from Photoshop on your desktop.
Name each piece as follows.


  1. YOURNAMECover
  2. YOURNAME Contents
  3. YOURNAME DSP
An example:

Create a folder on your desktop and drag your 3 artefacts into your folder


I will collect the folders and get them printed and they will be the basis of an Individual Feedback tutorial with real style models this Wednesday & Friday.

You must continue to BLOG your work and continue improve your work (e.g. New Photos - Accuracy re: Style models)

Happy New Year - The hard work starts here.

Coursework to be completed by 1st May 2017

This includes:

  • Completion of all 3 components of Music Magazine: Main Cover - Contents page - Double Page spread with Pre Lim Task (School Magazine)           (60 MARKS)
  • Research & Planning: Between 60 - 100 quality posts (20 MARKS)
  • 7 Evaluation questions: Presented on Your blog in the following formats: Slideshare (Derived from Powerpoint presentation); Prezi presentations - Video; PodCast (Using Garage-band)  (20 MARKS)
This week working in groups of 3 you are going to prepare for evaluation question 1
Each group will prepare a power point for Friday to show with Downloaded images/Screen shots/Original Images from their own Coursework to identify the conventions of the following:

  • Group 1: The Main Cover
  • Group 2: The Contents Page
  • Group 3: Double page spread


Use the internet to gather your research and complete a power point to present to the AS class this Friday 13th Jan.

Post to Prepare your work up to 16th December & help planning plan beyond

Your work will now concentrate on preparing a photo shoot for appropriate original photos (at least 4) forArtist/Band to feature on the Front cover/DSP & Contents page



Your next posts will look at the Mise en Scene for this photo shoot particularly:
  1. Actors/Actor
  2. Location 
  3. Costume (to fit with my chosen genre) & Make up
  4. Props (Relevant to a Music Magazine)
  5. Camera Angles influenced by Stle Models & real media products
  6. A record of your Time Management i.e dates when you plan to complete each task.
Remember Friday 16th December is Assessment by Outcome day with all work being shared with the class. This will be a feedback and focus group session with audience feedback on revisions & decisions

For Wednesday 9th November

Task you must complete your School magazine Pre-lim task
This must include:

  • Medium Close up Image with a Clear Narrative
  • Appropriate Masthead
  • Appropriate Text
  • Additional appropriate conventions - Logo - Date - Colour scheme etc


You must also draft the contents page;

  1. Think about FONT, Font size, colour scheme, number reference and additional conventions.
  2. This does not have to be as complete as the Front Page


Please add short informative posts on your blogs using screen shots and images to illustrate your work

On Wednesday - You will present your work to the whole group referencing the work on your bog.

Make sure you post your final Front Cover and Contents on the Blog

Follow up work (After Wdnesday's Presentation)
A simple Strengths & Weakness analysis of your Pre Lim task clearly showing what you have done well and what you can improve for your main task (This will directly help you with Question 7 in your Evaluation questions)
